Ishan Kishan, showcasing his versatility in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, expressed his enjoyment of batting at both the opening position and first down. The dynamic Indian batsman, known for his aggressive style, has transitioned seamlessly into the number three spot, contributing significantly in the last two matches of the five-game series.

In the second T20I against Australia, Kishan played a pivotal role in helping India set an imposing total of 235/4, scoring a rapid 52 off 32 balls. This followed his impressive performance in the first T20I in Visakhapatnam, where he scored 58 runs.

Traditionally considered an opener in white-ball cricket, Kishan embraced the move to the middle order during the Asia Cup 2023, a trend continuing in the current series. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he expressed his enjoyment of the unique challenge of batting at number three, combining aspects of both opening and playing in the middle order.

“I think it’s fun batting at opening and first down at the same time. Because, you know, at least you know the situation when you are batting at one down, You know what game you have to play, what situation it is. Because initially, it was not easy for the batsman to go in and start rotating the strike,” said Kishan.

Emphasizing the importance of communication, Kishan highlighted the effective partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Their communication allowed them to target specific bowlers and adapt their game plan based on the situation.

“Like I also struggled a bit in the beginning. But you know, the communication was very good with Rutu as we were targeting bowlers. And at the same time, when I did not feel like going to a certain bowler, I asked him to go for it. So that is what makes the team different when you communicate pretty good in the middle and you know you target bowlers,” added Kishan.

His adaptability and aggressive approach have added depth to India’s batting lineup, providing them with a dynamic option at number three. As the series progresses, Ishan Kishan’s performances will likely continue to be a key factor for India.
