Newcastle might revive their interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike, who appears to be surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes, as reported by Ben Jacobs for Caught Offside.

Ekitike wasn’t included in PSG’s Champions League squad and hence won’t be facing Newcastle in their upcoming encounter. The 21-year-old has had limited opportunities this season, making just one appearance and scoring only four goals since his move to PSG from Reims in 2022. His transfer initially began with a loan deal, but it included a mandatory €35 million purchase clause, including bonuses.

Despite this clause being activated this year, PSG don’t see Ekitike as part of their future plans in Paris. They made attempts to offload him over the summer and received offers from interested parties.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Zenit St Petersburg made significant offers for his services, but Ekitike turned down both offers, holding out for a move to the Premier League. Despite efforts from Crystal Palace, West Ham, and Everton, his desired move to England didn’t come to fruition.

Ekitike preferred a season-long loan to Crystal Palace, allowing him flexibility to reassess his options in the summer. However, PSG were unwilling to agree to such terms and would have only considered a loan to Selhurst Park if it included a mandatory purchase clause.
