Sri Lanka ended their World Cup 2023 journey in a very disappointing way. After that, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has gone through a lot of things. The whole cricket of the country was shaken up. The whole cricket board was dismissed for the accusation of corruption. The sports minister of the country addressed the fact as “ICC’s Concern”.

Harin Fernando’s words:

ICC suspended the cricket board for the corruption issue. On December 12, the Sri Lankan sports minister Harin Fernando addressed this issue as “ICC’s Concern”. Roshan Ranashinghe was also sacked due to that reason. That is an unwanted scenario in Sri Lanka cricket. Even before that the board was accused of the corruption issue.

As per reports, the sports minister of the country sent an audit report to ICC regarding the alleged corruption within the cricket board during the T20 World Cup in 2022. Till now, ICC didn’t provide any instant feedback on that matter. The cricket board lodged a complaint against Ranasinghe for some financial issues regarding the fund. The complaint was filed to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Corruption.

On the social media handle, Harin Fernando wrote something. He stated, “I signed a gazette to revoke the decision appointing an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket, aiming to lift our ICC suspension.”

Losing the hosting Right of the U-19 World Cup and Set to Host Zimbabwe:

ICC banned the whole cricket board regarding the corruption issue a few times back. As a result of this, they lost the hosting right of the U-19 World Cup. That was scheduled for January 2024. South Africa is all set to host the tournament. A new chapter is waiting for the tournament.

After that disappointment, the country is all set to arrange a white-ball series in January 2024. Three ODI matches and three T20 matches are scheduled to happen. Both teams are ready to lock horns. The ODI is scheduled to happen on January 6, 8 and 11 in Colombo. The three T20s are set to happen on January 14, 16 and 18 in Colombo. Sri Lanka will be back in cricket action after a while. Fans are ready to see them in action soon.
